Worth it if you swap on EVM chains and want the best non-custodial routing (around 59% aggregator market share), zero protocol fee and cross-chain atomic swaps via Fusion+.
Avoid it if you want formal protection (no regulator or guarantee) or exposure to the 1INCH token, which suffers from low liquidity; execution depends on the underlying DEXs.
A leading DEX aggregator on EVM chains, holding around 59% market share, with no protocol fee and cross-chain atomic swaps via Fusion+. As a non-custodial protocol it depends on the underlying DEXs, and the 1INCH token suffers from low liquidity.

Strengths
- 59% market aggregator EVM; 0% protocol fee; Fusion+ cross-chain atomic swap.
- Self-custody: funds stay in your wallet — the platform cannot touch them.
- Permissionless and decentralized: no approval needed to operate.
- Public security audits.
Weaknesses
- Token 1INCH low liquidità; depends from DEX sottostanti.
- Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
- Subject to regulation (DEX aggregator): reporting to authorities and freezes on order.
Verdict
For the mainstream user the limits of any non-custodial aggregator apply: no regulator, no guarantees, self-held keys and operation that depends on the underlying DEXs and their reliability. The 1INCH token's low liquidity is a further warning sign. The grade stays high for execution quality, but there is no formal protection.
Here 1inch is at its best: a leading non-custodial aggregator on the EVM ecosystem with around 59% share, twelve supported chains, zero protocol fee and cross-chain atomic swaps via Fusion+. Trustless routing to the best liquidity, on-chain settlement, no KYC and full fund control: a top-tier crypto-native profile. Dependence on the underlying DEXs is inherent to the model and the only real caveat.

Hack / funds theft Moderate $5M ✓ resolved
A flaw in 1inch's old Fusion v1 contract cost about 5 million dollars to a market maker still using it. No end-user funds touched; the attacker returned about 4.05 million, keeping the rest as a 10% «finder's fee»
On 5 March 2025 an attacker took roughly **5 million dollars** — 2.4 million USDC and 1,276 WETH — exploiting a flaw in the `_settleOrder` function of the **Fusion v1 resolver contracts**, the retired version of 1inch's order settlement system. The bug is an **integer underflow**: passing a negative `interactionLength` value (-512) produced memory corruption that allowed funds to be redirected. No sophisticated technique, basic arithmetic — and, worth recording, **nine audit teams had missed it**. Who lost the money, because that is the distinction that matters: not 1inch's users, but the **resolvers**, the market makers that execute orders on the protocol and still had the Fusion v1 implementation running inside their own contracts. The worst hit was TrustedVolumes. 1inch stated publicly: «We're actively working with affected resolvers to secure their systems. We urge all resolvers to audit and update their contracts immediately». ⚠️ What does not add up in the communication should also be said: the company's first statement — «no end-user funds were at risk» — was technically true but **omitted the 5 million already taken from resolvers**, and it was called out for that. After a negotiation the attacker **returned about 4.05 million dollars**, keeping roughly **450,000** as a self-assigned «10% finder's fee». The case is closed: the vulnerable contracts were already deprecated, and the residual exposure only concerned those who had not updated them. Why this entry exists: until today the card declared «no known incident» with a verification date — a **false** statement, given the event dates to March 2025.
