Strengths
- Uncapped 3% cash back on everything (5% on portal travel), unusually high for a flat-rate card
- No card annual fee and no foreign transaction fees
- Visa Signature benefits plus a 17g metal card; rewards auto-investable into the brokerage
- No notable sovereignty advantage documented.
Weaknesses
- Requires a paid Robinhood Gold membership ($5/mo or $50/yr) to get and keep the card
- US-only and invite/waitlist gated
- Rewards redeem at 1 cent/point into the Robinhood account, tying value to its ecosystem; not a crypto card
- Traditional credit card: not self-custody — the account requires full KYC, a credit check, and can be closed or reported to credit bureaus by the issuer.
- Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
- Subject to regulation (Visa Signature credit card issued by Coastal Community Bank, Member FDIC, under license from Visa U.S.A. Inc.; offered by Robinhood Credit, Inc. (part of NASDAQ-listed Robinhood Markets, Inc.).): reporting to authorities and freezes on order.
Verdict
Strong consumer protection: a Visa Signature credit card issued by Coastal Community Bank (an FDIC bank) and offered by a publicly listed, regulated company. The trade-off is the complete lack of privacy: full KYC, USD rewards into the Robinhood brokerage account, no crypto or self-custodial element.
Minimal sovereignty score: no self-custody, mandatory KYC, rewards locked into the Robinhood (brokerage) ecosystem, no crypto exposure. It is a traditional centralized credit card, the opposite of cypherpunk principles.

Rating of the «Robinhood: Trading & Investing» app on the US storefront, read from Apple's public endpoint (exact value 4.28559 across 4,794,707). It measures the trading platform, not the Gold Card, which has neither its own app nor a separate review channel. «Robinhood Banking» and «Robinhood Wallet» were excluded as separate products.

Same app, Android version (package com.robinhood.android). Exact count from structured data: 531,144 ratings, average 4.153244 on the US storefront, where the visible label rounds to «531K». The same caveat applies: this is the trading platform, not the card.
